Thor's Cave in the Peak District National Park

Today's walk started from a small cafe called the Tea Rooms at Wetton Mill. This walk would take us on a beautiful stroll through part of the wonderful Peak District National Park.  Our destination would be the majestic Thor's Cave.  The views from the cave are truly amazing and are a must see.

This is a picture taken from the hill behind the cafe.  The picture shows the path we followed all the way to Thor's Cave. Many cyclists use this route too.

Some details about the cave
This is a picture of the cave taken from the path. I am sure I have read that there are over 200 steps from the path up to the cave's entrance.  We did not count the steps but I was quite exhausted when I reached the  top. The terrain up to the cave can be very slippery, therefore good walking shoes are essential.  The cave is also very slippery too but it is worth exploring.

The views from the top are outstanding.  Nevertheless this is just one of the walks to be had in the Peak District.  We followed the path back to the Tea Rooms and stopped for lunch.

Things to consider before visiting Thor's Cave
  • You will need good walking shoes
  • For some of the way the route from the Tea Rooms is used by cars
  • This area is also very popular with cyclists
This walk is worth the effort it takes to get to Wetton Mill and the effort needed to climb to the cave. Belle and Bandit love this area and we will return to it very soon.  Your comments are always welcome.
